Herefordshire woman awarded special prize at University of Gloucestershire graduation ceremony

A student from Ross-on-Wye has been awarded a special prize at this year’s University of Gloucestershire graduation ceremony.

She received the award in front of an audience of a thousand people at the Cheltenham Racecourse on Thursday 23 November.

The First Class Psychology graduate, Victoria Selwyn-James has received the ‘British Psychological Society’ prize, which is celebrates the graduating student with the most outstanding performance in a BPS accredited Psychology course. The ceremony also saw European, World and Paralympic champion Andy Lewis MBE receive an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Gloucestershire.

Victoria, who previously studied at John Kyrle High School, is now working as a print account manager at for a Cheltenham based company and additionally plans to study towards an MSc in Human Resource Management.

Victoria Selwyn-James said: I feel really proud and pleased that my efforts have paid off and are consequently being rewarded. I have absolutely loved studying Psychology at the University of Gloucestershire; it’s always felt like home even from the open day I attended. The course was fantastic and the lecturers were so supportive that now, as a graduate, I believe I can achieve anything I put my mind to.
