Hereford set to be turned pink during Venus Midnight Walk for St Michael’s Hospice

Glow sticks and feather boas will light up the night next month as one of Hereford’s best loved and longest running fundraisers hits the city streets.

Each year, the Venus Midnight Walk raises vital funds and awareness of St Michael’s Hospice, helping the charity continue to provide its expert palliative and end-of-life care, free of charge.

The 18^th instalment of this event, open to women and girls aged 12 and above, takes place as the sun sets on Friday, 10^th July.

Walkers will choose one of three fully signed and marshalled circular routes - 6K, 10K and 14K - beginning at Hereford Leisure Centre. 

St Michael’s says Venus is one of its most popular, and vibrant, fundraisers, with almost half a million pounds collected in the last decade or so alone.

“This year will be our 18^th Venus, and it remains as special today as the very first one,” said Tash Walshe, Events and Community Fundraiser at St Michael’s.

“The atmosphere on Venus night is very special, with supporters taking part to celebrate but also remember the lives of loved ones.”

Each of the three routes takes in a Memory Garden Station, plus there will be the chance to get into the spirit before you start with a variety of pink merchandise for sale, plus face glitter.

St Michael’s says it would love as many walkers as possible to get sponsored for the walk.

The charity is also looking for volunteers - men or women - to help make the night a success.
