Patients were evacuated from the A&E department at Hereford County Hospital last night after staff discovered a small fire.
The fire was confined to a single room and was extinguished by staff within minutes. It caused a limited amount of damage, no one was hurt and no patients were at risk.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue were in attendance and it was back to “business as normal” for most of the department within 20 minutes when the department was reopened.
Wye Valley NHS Trust is working with West Mercia Police to establish the circumstances around the fire.
