Herefordshire singer Ellie Goulding returned to her former school in Kington yesterday
The Brit Award winning artist visited Lady Hawkin's School.
Ellie travelled up from London, back to her home county, to visit students and staff.
She made a surprise entrance to a lesson to meet students in Year 11 who are just about to take their GCSE exams. She spoke with them about how to relieve exam pressure and their next steps after school.
Ellie then made a surprise entrance to a whole school assembly and reminisced about her time at Lady Hawkins’ and how it had been a happy and supportive chapter at the very start of her career.
Mr Jennings said ‘It was great to welcome such a positive role model who was returning to her roots. Ellie reminds us why music and the arts are so important and I hope that her visit will inspire the next generation’. Students said ‘I couldn’t believe she was actually here at our school’ and ‘wow, I wasn’t expecting that in assembly!’
Ellie Goulding has amassed 15m album sales worldwide and over 14m followers on Instagram. 2 #1 albums under her belt, ‘Love Me Like You Do’ broke the record for most steamed song in 1 week worldwide.
