North Herefordshire Green MP Ellie Chowns has congratulated the winner of the contest to replace her on the county council.
Rebecca Tully, who has worked in teaching, training and community projects for over 25 years, comfortably held Bishops Frome and Cradley ward for the Greens following a byelection on November 7.
“I’ve known Rebecca for many years, and I have been really inspired by the work she’s been doing supporting local communities here in Herefordshire,” Dr Chowns said.
“Rebecca will be an exceptionally hardworking councillor – she’s super-energetic, she’s very caring, and she gets things done.”
Ms Tully said: “I’m delighted and excited to be carrying on Ellie’s great work in Bishop’s Frome and Cradley.
“It’s been great to get to know the area even better over the last few weeks and hear so much from everyone about what they appreciate, and what they want me to get on with. I’m really looking forward to representing everyone and getting stuck in.”
Dr Chowns added she had stepped down from the role of local councillor “so I could invest all my time effectively representing all of North Herefordshire in Westminster”
“It was an absolute honour listening to residents and representing the ward on the council and bringing improvements to our beautiful corner of the county,” she added.
