Drama performance to raise money for cancer charity

Award winning theatre double bill to be held at The Courtyard Theatre for Hereford Breast Cancer charity.

The Courtyard hosts an eagerly awaited double bill of award winning one act plays on 25 April when the curtain rises on the best performances from this year’s Hereford County Drama Festival.

First to take centre stage is “The Last Bread Pudding”, a hilariously melodramatic bird's eye view on an AmDram committee's decision on what their next play should be. The meeting soon goes off agenda and secrets are revealed! Written by Nick Warburton, the play showcases the talent of two of the Hereford County Drama Festival’s individual award winners - Toby Burchell who won Best Actor for his portrayal of Chairman Ken, and Best Director Ben Mowbray.

As if that were not enough to delight local theatre lovers, next comes “Mother’s Day” which stars former acclaimed Shakespearean actress Alex James in what promises to be a sparkling return home to the stage. Coaxed away from her recent duties at Herefordshire’s glorious Broadfield Court Vineyard, Alex portrays one of two deeply repressed sisters whose plot to escape their domineering mother takes a tense and unexpectedly deadly twist. This witty and macabre tour de force, sharply written by local playwright Frank Ryding, is a humorous black comedy, guaranteed to be as gripping as it is disturbing.
