Lucs made the long trip to Plymouth to visit opponents who had yet to record a win following their return to Nat West 2, albeit they have had a tough schedule playing 4 of the top 5 in their seven fixtures prior to the visit of the Black and Whites.
However, Lucs were in no mood to allow them to claim their first victory by winning on the road with a bonus-point 5-try victory to take them level with Redruth and Clifton at the pinnacle of the league after 8 games.
Lucs had homegrown Rob Bengry and Harry Whiteman both gaining their 100th cap's in National rugby as they ran out winners, despite a spirited performance from their hosts.
Captain Joe White scored Lucs' first try, after only 2 minutes, when he dotted down at the back of another superb Black and White driving maul. Next up was Caleb Montgomery, having similar success at the back of a scrum drive from 5 metres out, with Owen Randell converting after 20 minutes (0-12).
Despite the scoreline, the home side were far from being overwhelmed and were not deterred even after wing George Bennett scored Lucs' third try in the corner just after the half-hour marker, to lead 0-17, with a comeback score of their own before half time, to reduce arrears to 7-17 as the sides went off for oranges.

The second half saw Lucs wing, Charlie Grimes find himself in centre field to collect a pass and, using his fast feet saw him perform a 'Strictly'-like dance, and weave his way through the home side defence to dot down under the posts from 15 metres out, for a fine score. Owen Randell again converted (7-24).
Lucs were reduced to 14, when John Kelly was shown yellow, and the home side capitalised to score a try of their own (12-24). Lucs made some changes, taking the opportunity to give Ned Collins a debut at fullback on the hour mark. It was then James Wheeler's turn to show his strength, as he powered his way over 76 minutes into the game; Randell again converting (12-31). Devonport then scrambled a very late try and conversion as a consolation score, after James Mear had been shown yellow for Lucs.
