A butchers near Herefordshire’s Welsh border plans to nearly double the size of its shop.
Ben Powell of Country Tastes, based at Longmeadow Industrial Estate, Ewyas Harold, has applied for permission to put up a new entrance lobby and glazed canopy, and to change the premises’ internal layout, replacing existing offices with more shop space.
“The new entrance lobby will improve accessibility to the retail space whilst the covered canopy will protect customers from inclement weather,” his application says.
The brick walls of the existing building will be rendered off-white to match the new lobby, while existing windows will similarly replaced with grey-framed units.
Two car parking spaces will be lost to the changes.
The local neighbourhood plan says that “development proposals for new, expanded or improved retail, commercial and community facilities will be supported” in Ewyas Harold, the application points out.
The Longmeadow premises also houses Neil Powell Butchers’ licenced cutting facility where it dry-ages its Herefordshire beef. The company also has outlets in Hereford, Abergavenny and Chepstow.
Comments on the application, numbered 224164, can be made until January 24.
