Border brewery seeks ‘drink-ins’

A recently established brewery on the Herefordshire border plans to start offering “drink-ins” for customers.

Lucky 7 Beer, based at the Glanwye Business Park on the Herefordshire side of Hay-on-Wye, was set up by Luke Manifold five years ago.

He has now applied for a licence to sell beer from a bar at the brewery on Thursdays and Fridays between 5pm and 10pm, and from noon to 10pm on a Saturday.

His application shows the licensed area covering indoor and outdoor seating areas next to the bar within the brewery building.

Mr Manifold said the bar would not necessarily open on all the licensed days, and that the range of beers will vary over time, with the brewery’s “session IPA”, Sipa, currently its most popular.

The brewery is also seeking permission to sell beers online 24 hours a day.

It already sells to independent shops, cafés and restaurants on both sides of the border.

Consultation on the licensing application ends on September 21.
