The Bishop of Hereford has paid tribute to His Royal Highness Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh.
Bishop Richard Jackson said: “It is with deep sadness that we heard the news today of the death of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh. Throughout his life, Prince Philip was committed to service and demonstrated this commitment through his steadfast support of Her Majesty and service of our country.
I give thanks for the 74 years of marriage of Her Majesty The Queen and Prince Philip. This is a national moment of grief but also a personal loss for the Royal family and her Majesty. I pray that God will comfort Her and the rest of the family at this time.
May His Royal Highness rest in peace and rise in glory. “
