Gloucestershire Constabulary are appealing for information following a suspected assault on a man from Newent.
During the evening of 4 September he had been at The Circle Club and then gone to a friend's house to play cards. He left the friend's house to go home at around 3-3.30am on 5 September.
At some point during his walk home, between The George Hotel and Culver Street, we believe he was assaulted by an unknown offender. The victim has sustained unexplained but nasty injuries to his face, including multiple fractures to his cheekbone and eye socket, which required hospital treatment.
Officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed or heard anything in the area in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Please call 101 quoting incident number 441 of 5 September.
