Two men plead guilty to armed robbery in Kidderminster

Two men have been convicted after pleading guilty to several charges following an armed robbery in Kidderminster in April.

Stephen Soley, aged 37 and Dean Buckley, aged 45 were both charged with robbery, possession of an imitation firearm, possession of an offensive weapon and theft from motor vehicle following the incident on Saturday 9 April at the Matalan store in Park Butts Ringway.

At Worcester Crown Court on Monday 9 May, both men pleaded guilty to armed robbery, theft from a motor vehicle, possessing an imitation firearm whilst commit a section 1 offence and possessing an offensive weapon.

Detective Constable Matthew Harris said: “This was a horrific ordeal for the members of staff who were threatened and also for the wider community in Kidderminster who were understandably shocked by the incident.

“I want to thank the local community for their support while we carried out our enquiries and I’m pleased that we were able to quickly identify and arrest the suspects.”

The two men are due to be sentenced on Friday 10 June 2022.
