West Mercia Police appoint new Assistant Chief Constable

Rachel Jones has been appointed as the new Assistant Chief Constable for Local Policing and Operations at West Mercia Police.

Rachel was successful following a thorough interview process on Tuesday 19 May and will join the force in the middle of June.

Rachel, who lives in Worcestershire, is currently working in a role for the National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC) having moved from West Midlands Police where, as Temporary Assistant Chief Constable she had responsibility for Forensics, Criminal Justice Services, CID, Public Protection and Intelligence.  Prior to her ACC role she performed various roles within Local Policing, Child Protection and Professional Standards. Before joining West Midlands Police she was South West Regional Lead for Intelligence.

She began her career with Gloucestershire Constabulary where she undertook a wide range of uniformed, detective and business related roles, as well as tactical firearms, public order and major incident command.  You can see her full biography here.

Announcing the appointment, Anthony Bangham, Chief Constable of West Mercia Police said: “I am pleased to welcome Rachel to West Mercia Police. She brings with her a wealth of experience and I know that she will be a valuable addition to the force and help us further enhance the service we give to our communities.” 

Speaking after her appointment to the role Rachel said: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining West Mercia Police, which serves the area in which I have lived for most of my life. I am really looking forward to working with colleagues, partners, and the public, to serve the communities of the three counties.”
