Shropshire Council are asking residents and business to take heed of the potential weather warning which could see flash flooding in certain parts of the county.
Whilst the Met Office have currently issued a yellow alert for the county, they have also said that we could potentially see some dramatic weather conditions with frequent lightning and thunder, and large hailstones breaking out later this afternoon/evening.
If they do occur, there could also be some very high localised rainfall and flash floods.
Residents in communities susceptible to flash flooding should be on high alert and keep an eye on the Met Office website for further updates.
However – according to the Met Office it is by no means guaranteed that these thunderstorms will occur across our region – but it is a strong possibility. If the Met Office have seen enough evidence this morning they may well issue an Amber weather warning later today for parts of the wider West Midlands region.
The heatwave conditions look set to continue until Thursday. Daily temperatures in the range high 20’s C to Low 30’s C. Perhaps nudging into the mid’30 C on occasion particularly in parts of Warwickshire, maybe Worcestershire too.
For those involved in Health and Social Care Sectors the Met Office and Public Health England will very likely be upgrading the Heat Health Alert across the West Midlands Region later this morning. It does look less hot from Friday onwards though.

Sherry Woolgrove Emergency Planning Officer at Shropshire Council said: “Following the Met Office warning, whilst we’re not certain at this time that we will see these dramatic weather conditions today, we want to warn residents and businesses to take heed of the warnings.”
“Looking further ahead across the remainder of the week – there is always going to be a risk of more in the way of thunderstorms and torrential rain, so if we do escape today we won’t be out of the woods completely.
“We currently have Yellow Weather Warnings highlighting the potential for some significant flooding incidents in force right through until Thursday.”
