A new drug and alcohol service has been launched in Herefordshire today.

The Herefordshire Recovery Service will be run on behalf of Herefordshire Council by Turning Point, in partnership with Healthwatch Herefordshire and alongside other recovery organisations and will replace the support offered by We Are With You in Herefordshire.  There will be no change or break in treatment plans for people already using the previous service.

Based at Beaumont House in Offa Street, Hereford, Turning Point will provide free and confidential support for adults and young people around their use of alcohol and drugs.  The health and social care organisation has over 50 years' experience in supporting people with drug and alcohol problems. This specialist service has been shaped by the needs of the local community and the voices of people with drug and alcohol issues and their carers and families.

Support will be offered by professionals in a variety of community settings across Herefordshire, building recovery and improving wellbeing by connecting into the local community. There will also be online support available through the 24/7 'My Turning Point' tool with guided and self-help sessions.

There will be a dedicated Young People's Drug & Alcohol Service for under-25's. A safe, confidential and non-judgemental place to make positive changes through a range of services, including: training and awareness sessions and short-term sessions in one-to-one or small groups and structured treatment plans.

Eoin Bolger, Regional Head of Operations at Turning Point, said: "The Herefordshire Recovery Service will be an new way to engage with local communities across Herefordshire. We're confident in the positive support we'll be able to give to those who may be struggling with drug or alcohol use, especially as we're still in the midst of a pandemic."

For those wishing to access support, they can refer themselves or ask their GP, or another professional, to refer them. Referrals can be made by visiting the Herefordshire Recovery Service Network website or calling 0300 555 0747.
