Herefordshire Council has asked itself for permission to set up signs to advertise the future construction Southern Link Road.

The council wants to place the freestanding signs at each end of the proposed road which is deemed as the first stage of the western Hereford bypass.

One sign would be placed at next to the A49 Ross Road and the B4399 Rotherwas relief road roundabout and another on the A465 Abergavenny Road.

However, residents say they have objected to the proposals because the link road is not yet a fully-approved project.

Objector Robert Palgrave said: “Funding is not yet available until it is released from the Department for Transport after scrutiny of a final business case.”

The county council is also awaiting the outcome of a public inquiry into the compulsory purchase orders associated with the link road.

Residents have until February 7 to comment on the plans which sould be considered by March 7.
