Small number of homes in Hereford flooded says council

Herefordshire Council said a small number of homes have been flooded in Hereford.

Herefordshire’s Tactical Co-ordination Group (TCG), the multi-agency group who respond to local incidents met today to review the impact of the recent storms and their impact on the local community.

Superintendent Edd Williams, Chair of the TCG said: “Herefordshire has now seen river levels peak across all its rivers and we will now start to see water levels subsiding. There have been a small number of homes in Hereford city affected by floods and we have been supporting residents - either to evacuate and relocate or to remain safely at home. As flooding subsides, it will take time to check roads across the county for damage and for flood debris to be cleared. Please do not drive through flood water and please observe ‘road closed’ signs.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to ask residents to take care when travelling around Herefordshire and into neighbouring counties, especially at a time when many families may be looking for half-term activities. Please check before you travel and do not travel to areas which have flood alerts, especially Bewdley in Worcestershire and Ironbridge in Shropshire. Our emergency response teams are on standby to support colleagues and the public in surrounding counties - in both Worcestershire and Shropshire where major incidents have been declared.”
