Man slashed during assault

Police are appealing for information after a man was assaulted in Ebbw Vale yesterday.

The incident happened at around 5.30pm in the alleyway behind Bethcar Street. The victim was walking when he was approached by a man asking for money. When the victim refused, he was struck with what’s thought to be a bladed instrument causing injuries to his face and hand. The offender ran off in the direction of Eureka Place. 

The victim required hospital treatment however his injuries are not thought to be serious and he is recovering at home.

The offender is described as a white man in his mid 20’s, around 5’7 in height and of skinny build. He was wearing dark clothing and a hat. 

Officers are investigating and are asking for anyone who saw the incident, or the offender to contact them on 101.
