An injured walker was rescued during heavy snow in the Black Mountains yesterday.

Emergency services including Longtown Mountain Rescue responded to the incident near Black Hill at 2pm on Wednesday.

The experienced male walker had slipped and felt his knee 'pop', making onward travel very difficult and painful.

Medical aid was given but the most important priority was keeping the gentleman warm as the snow was falling heavily and the wind was picking up.

He carried off the hill by stretcher and taken by land ambulance to hospital.
