A Hereford Indian restaurant has had its alcohol and late food licence suspended with immediate effect, after a member of staff was found to be working there illegally.
A meeting of Herefordshire Council’s licensing subcommittee on Tuesday (November 22) had been called to rule on the licence of Razbari restaurant in the city’s Eign Street, where police arrested a Bangladeshi man in a joint agency operation last week.
The meeting was held largely in closed session, “as it is likely we will discuss individuals’ details”, committee chair Coun Polly Andrews said.
She later announced that councillors, having heard “compelling and credible” representation from West Mercia Police, as well as from a representative of the licence holder, had decided to suspend the premises licence immediately as an interim measure, ahead of a full review on the case which will be considered on December 14.
