Plans to build dozens of homes in a Gloucestershire town are up for debate next week.
The Stantonbury Development Company wants permission to build 23 more homes on the former Sonoco Industrial Packaging site in Tufthorn Avenue, Coleford.
The scheme will provide additional affordable housing to the new estate already under construction.
The application site forms part of the area of land on which outline planning permission was secured for up to 65 residential units and 12,002 sq ft of commercial units after demolition of the factory.
However, Stantonbury have been unsuccessful in their attempts to find occupiers or potential buyers for the commercial units.
So instead they seek permission from Forest of Dean District Council to build a total of 23 extra houses in lieu of the commercial units.
Coleford Town Council has object to the scheme on the basis that the site is allocated for mixed use and planning officers recommend rejecting the proposals.
They say on balance the proposal is unacceptable and will cause severe harm to the living conditions of future occupiers and remove the employment land on the site which goes against planning policy.
Councillors will make a decision about the proposals at a meeting in Coleford on March 8.
